About nora

Horses are a life-long passion for me. My love of horses was nurtured from a young age by my horse professional parents, Jeanie Hahn and Verne Batchelder. Together they started River House Hanoverians – a breeding, training, and sales business – in New Hampshire. My mom and I continue to operate River House Hanoverians in Williston, Florida. Like my parents, I started out as an event rider, but chose to focus mainly on dressage when I went to college.

I love training and competing dressage horses. By the time I turned 21, I had earned my USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals on horses I trained myself, and shortly thereafter I earned my USDF Gold Freestyle Bar. I have had multiple horses on the USEF Developing Dressage List, won numerous championship titles at US Dressage Finals, qualified many horses for the USEF Festival of Champions, the Markel Young and Developing Horse National Championships, and taken many championships titles at the GAIG/USDF Regional Championships in both Region 3 and 8. My horses have earned numerous year end titles, including Adequan/USDF All Breeds Champion in the Grand Prix Freestyle four years in a row. As a Young Rider and U25 Rider, I participated in the NAJYRC and competed three times in the Brentina Cup.

Most recently, I have been focusing my efforts on High Performance dressage and have collected CDI Small Tour wins and Grand Prix CDI ribbons at both the Wellington Global Dressage Festival and the Tryon International Equestrian Center. In 2019, Faro SQF helped me make a lifelong dream come true when we made the United States Pan American Team. Representing Team USA in Lima, Peru was truly an honor.

Goals

To have the honor and privilege of representing Team USA again!

Questions & Answers

What is your Impression about One K?

I love my One K Defender Helmets! One K helmets are well ventilated and lightweight, perfect for full days of riding in Florida weather. The colors and bling options means there is a One K helmet ideal for every riding situation, from an everyday schooling session to riding for your country in International Competition. I really appreciate the low profile of One K helmets; they have just the right combination of form and function.

What are your Whacky superstitions or traditions?

Representing Team USA at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and bringing home a Team Silver Medal!

what is your most Memorable sporting achievement?

Really two things. One was winning the FEI 5 year old class with Leo at the Devon CDI. It was my first big win and I was so emotionally overwhelmed that I had to send my student to the office to pick up my test! I couldn’t sleep that night because I was so excited!! The other achievement was making the Australian Nations Cup Team for the first time in 2015. That’s been a lifelong dream of mine to represent Australia!

Is There Something we might not know about you?

I love movies and television shows with high production values. My favorite genres are action/adventure, thriller/horror, and science fiction/fantasy. No romantic comedies, please.

What Are Some of Your Non-Equestrian Accomplishments?

Now my life is pretty much all horses all the time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. But, when I was growing up, academics were very important to me. I was valedictorian of my high school class and graduated summa cum laude from Amherst College in Chemistry and double majored in Art and the History of Art.

In my youth, I was also very dedicated to playing basketball. I played year round in the Amateur Athletic Union and played on my high school’s Varsity Team. I also ran cross-country and was Vermont State Champion.
